Mental Health Counseling

Young people often face challenges that can feel overwhelming.

The teen years are tough on kids and parents. Teens struggle to develop independence while simultaneously feeling controlled by social expectations and authority figures. The emotional turbulence typical of this period of life is being exacerbated by the expanding role technology plays in our daily lives. Social media has driven a dramatic increase in academic and social pressures, yet the constant distractions social media provides decreases teens' opportunities to develop strong coping skills to combat those pressures. These and other complex factors in society today are often making it difficult for teens to live the lives they are striving to create. According to 2017 data from the National Institute of Mental Health, approximately 17.5% of adolescents aged 15-17 reported having had a major depressive episode in the past year. LKN Counseling’s mission is to help teens create the life they want, and overcoming mental health obstacles is an essential part of that process.
